The Eagles have finally broken the curse. The Azuréens won on their home court, at the Salle Palmeira, against Nancy three sets to zero (25-21, 25-13, 25-13) in just 83 minutes of play. With their backs against the wall and having secured just one point out of a possible 15 in a month, Thiago Da Silva’s teammates had to win to avoid dropping further down the rankings.

Sixth before the match, Mladen Kasic’s players temporarily climb to fourth place awaiting the matches of Alès at Aisnières, the in-form team of the moment, and St Nazaire against St Brieuc.

A favorable schedule to gather points

The Eagles are now awake and seem to have finally regained their level of play when looking at last night’s performance. In the next round of Ligue B, Nice will visit Orange (11th) before hosting Martigues (12th). It’s an opportunity to gather points and secure a warm spot on the podium, positioning themselves well for the play-offs. Indeed, with a temporary 9-point gap from the leader Harnes (who should, barring any surprises, gather 3 more points tonight against Plessis-Robinson), the Ligue B champion title seems out of reach…

But the Niçois are well aware that in this ultra-tight and highly competitive championship, anything is possible with nine rounds to go before the end of the season.
