Chaumont or Nice will play the tiebreaker match this Sunday.
Winner of the first leg 3/0 at home, Nice knew that the continued competition in Chaumont’s venue was going to be tough.
Indeed, the match was long, fierce, and hard-fought. The team from Nice almost pulled off a spectacular feat by pushing their opponents to the limit. Though they were down 1/0 (26-24), led by Eldin Demirovic (25 points), they managed to snatch the second set (33-35!), and later the fourth (26-24).
As a result, the game went to a tie-break. In this final showdown, spurred on by the crowd, Carlos Antony’s teammates (22 points) proved to be the best. The home side controlled this ultimate duel, winning 15-11. With this 3/2 victory, Chaumont earns the right to play a tiebreaker match, again at home, this Sunday.
Meanwhile, Saint-Nazaire, once again victorious over Alès, can rest and turn its attention towards the final. The club from Loire-Atlantique is indeed the first qualifier for this playoff final.
