While traveling to Corsica for the 15th day of Ligue A, the team from Nice secured a hard-fought victory against Ajaccio with a score of 3 sets to 2. Following a breathtaking win last Friday against Rennes, the runners-up from Nice claimed their third consecutive victory. This is a first for the 2018-2019 season.
The U Palatinu was the stage for a thrilling showdown between the eighth-place team (Nice) and the ninth-place team in the championship (Ajaccio). This match was an incredible opportunity to gain a slight advantage by taking the last qualifying spot for the playoffs. The season is still long with eleven matches remaining for both teams, but every point counts when aiming for such goals.
Nice volleyball team relied on the key players of their squad, especially through Robin Overbeeke, who delivered another high-level performance. The yellow and blue team were on the brink of defeat several times. It’s with the same mindset as in their previous match that they found the necessary resources to overcome the Corsicans in the decisive final set.
The Eagles of Nice will return to the Riviera on February 1st at the Giamarchi Hall. They will face Toulouse, currently sixth in Ligue A. In the first leg, Mladen Kasic’s men suffered a heavy defeat, losing 3-1.
