Volleyball: Nice’s “comeback” secures a narrow victory (3-2) against Poitiers

Latest News

Last night Nice may have played their standout match by defeating Poitiers, one of the top 4 teams in the championship, coming back from a set down in a thrilling match.

After each team secured a set (Nice won the first 25-22, Poitiers the next 23-25), the Poitiers team, led by the duo El Graoui (19 points) – Kokkinakis (21), seemed to have found the key to winning the match after decisively claiming the third set (25-16).

However, perhaps disrupted by the incident affecting their coach Brice Donat during the fourth set, and left without guidance and in self-management, they lost their way during the offensive return of the Azureans and crumbled, accumulating error after error under the onslaught of Robin Overbeeke (29 points), well supported by Galabov (14), Cuk (11), and Ah-Kong (10).

Nice (5W-5L) remains 9th in the standings.
