In this 23rd day of the Marmara Spike League, Nice Volley-ball easily won (3-0) against Plessis-Robinson Volley-ball. This home match ended with a demonstration from the Niรงois.
After their 1-3 victory against Arago de Sรจte, the Aiglons were determined to win this match to climb to 6th place in the standings.
First set: difficult start but won by NVB
The Aiglons had a hard time starting this match with a score of 1-6 for the Robinsonnais. After finding their pace, notably with a Simon Hirsch fired up with eight points, the blues and yellows racked up points. Whether it was in blocking, attacking, or defending, they left no chance for their opponent. A powerful set, won (25-19) by NVB.
Second set: Plessis Robinson awakens but itโs not enough
Plessis Robinson steps up their game. Trailing 5-1, the Robinsonnais come back by five points, overtaking the Aiglons 5-6. Following this episode, coach Brice Donat calls for a timeout to motivate his team. Things improve for Nice, who play a real ping-pong game. Hirsch, still at the top level, follows up with an ace then a straight-line attack that leaves the opposing players stunned. Nice wins this second set (25-21).
Third set: the Aiglons too strong
Nice intends to finish this match quickly. With a swift 16-8 thanks notably to two aces from Dias and Raptis, but also many errors on the Plessis side. In the final moments, the Azurรฉens dominate their opponent with a 20-11. A demonstration from the Niรงois that leaves the Robinsonnais speechless. No response on the other side, Nice takes the opportunity to finish the match in style (25-18) and secure their place in the play-offs, also due to the defeat of Paris Volley-ball against Chaumont.
The words of the coach, Brice Donat
โItโs a great satisfaction because we knew it was a tricky match. Itโs a team that takes risks and we needed points to qualify for the play-offs. Weโll continue to gather points and climb in the standings because we still have three matches left in the championship. We can hope for 5th place.โ
โThese are players who give me a lot of satisfaction on a daily basis. Since we had a bit of a lead in the scores, I allowed myself to let everyone play, particularly Colin Castelnau who made his professional debut on the field tonight. I think it will remain a very good memory for him.โ
