Nice won 3 sets to 0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) against Nancy. A perfectly managed match that confirms last week’s victory and allows the Nice team to return to a tie for first place pending the Canteleu match tomorrow.
1 hour 15 minutes. That’s the time it took for Nice Volley Ball to deal with Nancy. Despite being fifth in the championship, the Nancy team never gave the impression of being in the game.
Despite fairly balanced sets, Nice demonstrated their technical superiority to control Nancy. This technical quality was especially evident during long rallies. When these rallies lasted, they generally turned in favor of NVB.
Mladen Kasic’s protégés could count on the return of their attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serbian scored 20 points and was very valuable in serving with four aces.
At times, the match exhibited quality worthy of a Ligue A match. Right from the first point, the exchange was of rare intensity. But after a balanced start, Nice seemed to pull away in this first set leading 17-11. However, proving that this match was balanced, Nancy fought back to 17-14. This three-point gap would never be closed as Nice secured the set 25-22.
The second set was a repeat of the first with quality volleyball presented. But by persisting, NVB pulled ahead to lead 19-13. This late gap proved decisive as Nice won the second set 25-18. The set point was, moreover, indicative of the match. A fiercely contested point finally won by Nice.
The third act saw Nice pull away throughout the set, confirming the first two winning sets (25-20).
Now, it will be necessary to confirm away from home, one of the issues for NVB. The next test will be next Saturday in Harnes.
