Back against the wall in the standings, Nice Volley and AS Cannes faced each other this Friday night in a fear-inducing derby in the men’s Ligue A volleyball. In front of an almost full and particularly noisy Palmeira hall, it was the Nice team that won three sets to one, giving themselves some room to breathe.
Respectively 10th and second-to-last in the standings, with only two victories on both sides, the two Riviera clubs hoped to recover with this fear-inducing derby.
As the reigning French champion, AS Cannes is lacking reference points and confidence at the start of this season, following the departure of their long-standing coach last summer. On the other hand, Nice Volley, after a tough season last year, has strengthened its squad and is especially lacking in luck.
This derby confirms the superiority of Nice, who won 3 sets to 1 and climbed back up in the standings.
