Volleyball: NVB Responds!

Latest News

A beautiful reaction last night from the Nice volleyball players. A clear and flawless 3 sets to 0 victory against Cambrai in the 13th round of Ligue B. Mladen Kasic’s men bounced back after their heavy defeat last week.

It was a transformed Nice team that we saw last night in their hall. After last week’s setback, it was important to regroup. And that’s what Mladen Kasic’s men diligently did over three sets.

A revived service

Against Tourcoing, the Côte d’Azur players committed too many service errors to hope for a win. Yesterday, the Nice players corrected that. Only 4 service errors in the first two sets compared to 9 for Cambrai.

Thanks to their effectiveness in this area, Mladen Kasic’s players troubled Cambrai’s reception. Raphael Corre took the opportunity to supply his middle blockers, Nemanja Cubrillo and Mirko Radevic, with balls. The two Serbians scored consecutively and also disheartened the northern attackers with devastating blocks.

The outcome was sets won with scores of 25-21 and 25-18 for NVB.

The Jérôme Clere show

The third set was merely a formality for the Nice team who quickly took a 6-0 lead. However, the standout performance of Jérôme Clere in this final act was noteworthy. The NVB’s opposite hitter was unstoppable, showcasing all the skills of a perfect volleyball player, whether in wing attacks, at the 3-meter line, or blocking. He scored 13 of his team’s 25 points in this set. The final score was 25-20 for the Nice team.

A remarkable reaction from Mladen Kasic’s men, who temporarily reclaim second place in the Ligue B standings behind Rennes. This resurgence will need to be confirmed in Martigues next Saturday.
