This Saturday evening, the Eagles traveled to Sète for the 3rd day of the Marmara SpikeLigue. The Nice team was defeated in three sets (25-18/25-21/25-18).
New championship day, new away game for Nice Volley Ball. After their first defeat of the season last week on the field of Saint-Nazaire, the Nice team traveled this time to the field of Sète. Arago de Sète had a rough start to their championship. The team from Sète lost twice in two matches, against Tourcoing (1-3) and then Montpellier (3-0).
The start of the match was tight between the two teams. But it was Sète, at home, who took the lead in this first set. The Sète team even took a five-point advantage in the middle of the set against their opponent. The Nice team was unable to catch up. With a missed serve by Mattéo Schalk, Sète won the first set (25-18).
The Eagles chase the score
The teammates of Rodney Ah-Kong started the second set poorly, quickly trailing by three points. Led by a strong Simon Hirsh in attack, the Nice team stayed close to Sète but never took the lead in this set. Sète maintained its lead and secured the second set (25-21). The break was made.
Winning the third set became crucial for the Nice team. The start of the set was tighter than the first two. The teammates of Valérii Todua once again experienced a rough patch in the middle of this third set. Thanks to several successful attacks by Gonzalez Limon, Sète had a lead of up to nine points. The Sète team won quite easily in three sets (25-18/25-21/25-18). The Eagles suffer their second consecutive away defeat.
The next match for the Eagles is on Tuesday. Nice will host Poitiers for the fourth day of the championship. The Nice team will return to the Gianmarchi Palmeira hall. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
