Volleyball: The French men’s team in first place in the European rankings

Latest News

Good news for volleyball enthusiasts and especially for their president, the Nice-born Eric Tanguy. The CEV (European Volleyball Confederation) has released its ranking, placing France in the first position ahead of Italy, Russia, and Serbia.

This is a reward for their European title last October and their 3rd place in the World League this year.

After winning the World League in July 2015, the European Championship in October of the same year, then securing second place in the Olympic qualification tournament in Berlin, and winning the bronze medal in the 2016 World League, the French team is honored in the latest ranking established by the CEV.

Laurent Tillie’s men have moved up five places, as this ranking takes into account the last two editions of the European Championship (5th and 1st places), the 2016 World League (3rd place), the 2016 European League (which the French team did not participate in), and the 2014 World Championship (4th place).
