By easily defeating Nancy on Friday night, the Eagles recorded their first victory of 2012 and gained a place in the standings. Currently in fifth place, NVB remains very much in the playoff race, and that’s not too bad.

Because before this victory, oh how important it was, the Azureans were on a streak of 5 consecutive defeats and kept falling in the standings. This victory against the Nancians stopped this downward spiral, but the Niçois now need to confirm this success tonight at 6:30 PM against Orange, a team that is never easy to play and is in the midst of a battle to stay in the league.

Confirm the success against Nancy

During the first round, coach Kasic’s volleyball players won 3 sets to 1 at home. But on their turf, in Vaucluse, the Orangeois are much harder to beat, as evidenced by the narrow victories of Harnes or Avignon in the tie-break (3-2). A good test, therefore, for the Eagles to confirm or not their comeback after a tough period.

In other matches of the evening, the leader Harnes travels to Nancy to try to secure their ninth consecutive victory and edge closer to the championship title that now seems promised to them. Alès (6th) will host Chaumont (3rd) to stay in the playoff race while at the bottom of the table, St Quentin, the last-placed team, will have to do everything to win against Martigues, the first non-relegated team, to keep a slim hope of staying in Pro B.
