To amplify the booster campaign, Health Minister Olivier Véran announced this Thursday, December 9, 2021, that pharmacies would be allowed to open on Sundays for those who wish to do so.
“I am signing a decree that will authorize and encourage all pharmacists who wish and are able to open every Sunday, without limitation, during the months of December and January,” the minister declared during his appearance on the France 2 news program.
Indeed, pharmacies are crucial local points of access, especially considering that out of the 21,000 pharmacies in France, approximately 15,000 are administering Covid-19 vaccines.
“The booster dose is the urgency of the moment in the face of this wave,” stressed the Health Minister. In France, there is an average of 45,000 infections per day, with levels not seen “since the beginning of the pandemic.”
