Wales – France: 20 – 26
The French team continues its victorious path in this Six Nations tournament by winning for the third consecutive time. Lièvremont’s men have overcome the Indian sign.
During this match against the Welsh, the French showed two faces.
The first by demonstrating great defensive mastery, similar to their match against Scotland, they accepted the Welsh onslaughts by concentrating on not making mistakes. This resulted in a lack of clarity from their opponents, who offered them two tries, thus giving them a clear advantage in the score.
The second was quite different; following the expected pride-driven reaction from Gatland’s men, France, under pressure, lost some composure and had to demonstrate solidarity and courage to maintain their score advantage. The success of our kickers and the contribution from the substitutes were decisive at the end of the match.
We can just regret that the French did not drive the point home after the break by taking control of the game like they did against Ireland. However, the victory is beautiful, and the Grand Slam is still in sight.
