This Saturday, May 4th, the Jean Bouin swimming pool (at 8 PM) will be the stage for the eternal and no less essential event at the end of each season: The Nice vs. Marseille derby. The objective for Nice is simple: Win the first leg at home to play their cards, and their strengths, in the return match in the Phocean city.
Although Marseille finished in first place in the regular season of the French Elite Championship (Nice 4th), it was not always smooth sailing for the Phocean team, especially with a narrow victory in Nice on March 23 (10-11) and a defeat in Sète on April 6 (15-12).
Since that period of doubt, the Cercle has managed to bounce back, starting with a convincing victory against the reigning champion in Montpellier (8-10) and 2 victories against Noisy Le Sec and Senlis.
For its part, Nice had a very successful second half of the Championship with significant wins that allowed them to enter the final four.
It is fair to say that these semi-finals have never been so unpredictable (Nice vs. Marseille and Montpellier vs. Sète) and the spot in the sun will not be easy to secure.
