This weekend, the second tournament of the French Women’s National 1 Water Polo Championship took place at the Jean Bouin pool. Olympic Nice Natation won both of its matches in a very convincing manner and thus maintains its position as the leader of Group C, with 12 points.
On Saturday evening, the Nice water polo players brilliantly defeated ASPTT Limoges 11-3. After a sluggish first eight minutes, which ended with 1 goal each, the team from Nice managed to make a difference in the second quarter, scoring five times (6-2 at halftime).
The scenario of the second half was quite similar. Eight challenging minutes during which no goals were scored by either side. Then, ONN made adjustments, adding five points to the scoreboard (11-3 at the end of the match).
Sunday morning’s match saw ASPTT Limoges go up against Echirolles. The Haute-Vienne players won quite convincingly 13-3.
Finally, in its second match of the tournament, the Nice club won once again. The team from Nice was never threatened and easily defeated the Echirolles team with a decisive score of 16-0. Notably, Meriem Maarouf delivered an excellent performance, scoring six goals.
With these two additional victories, the women of Olympic Nice Natation are more than ever at the top of Group C with 12 points.
