A key player in the future EcoCampus of the Eco-Valley in the Var plain, the Mediterranean Institute for Risk, Environment, and Sustainable Development, a new component of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, is undertaking, under the aegis of the UNICE Foundation and with the support of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the region’s first corporate chair dedicated to water management in partnership with the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT Group.
The SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT Group will finance the activities of the chair for a duration of 3 years by providing 100,000 euros per year.
This partnership fully aligns with the urban development strategy and exemplary eco-planning of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.

This agreement, entitled “Water Uses and Economic Rationalities for a Smart & Sustainable Mediterranean City,” aims to develop scientific projects aimed at analyzing, understanding, and controlling the water cycle in a large Mediterranean coastal city.
By integrating all components – from the use of technology to the environmental and economic aspects – these projects aim to propose an economic model for a smart and sustainable city, seeking to improve the quality of life for its inhabitants.
