A key player in the future EcoCampus of the Eco-Valley in the Var plain, the Mediterranean Institute for Risk, Environment, and Sustainable Development, a new component of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, is undertaking, under the aegis of the UNICE Foundation and with the support of the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis, the region’s first corporate chair dedicated to water management in partnership with the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT Group.

The SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT Group will finance the activities of the chair for a duration of 3 years by providing 100,000 euros per year.

This partnership fully aligns with the urban development strategy and exemplary eco-planning of the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis.

This agreement, entitled “Water Uses and Economic Rationalities for a Smart & Sustainable Mediterranean City,” aims to develop scientific projects aimed at analyzing, understanding, and controlling the water cycle in a large Mediterranean coastal city.

By integrating all components – from the use of technology to the environmental and economic aspects – these projects aim to propose an economic model for a smart and sustainable city, seeking to improve the quality of life for its inhabitants.
