We tested the Comedy Club at the Nice Jazz Festival 2024 for you.

Latest News

This Wednesday evening, we immersed ourselves in a new experience at the Nice Jazz Festival: the Comedy Club. A first for this already 76-year-old festival! This oldest jazz festival in the world has decided, this year, to combine jazz and humor. To the great delight of festival-goers.

The concept is simple yet innovative: between concerts, the Bobar Comedy Club takes over, offering stand-up sessions between 6:30 PM and 10:30 PM. And that’s not all, because once the concerts are over, the Jams sessions take over from midnight to 2:30 AM.

Entry to the Comedy Club is free and open to all.

An Evening of Laughter

As soon as we arrived at the “Village Kind of Blue”, the atmosphere was already lively. The spectators, most of whom came for the jazz concerts, find themselves here in a relaxed atmosphere. Indeed, they are all ready to welcome this novelty with curiosity. Laughter erupts from the first act, putting everyone at ease and setting the stage for a successful evening, akin to the performance by Amine. This young comedian captivated the audience with a one-man show full of energy and humor. With his sharp and striking style, he tackles everyday subjects with a touch of irony that hits the mark. His performance was punctuated by constant bursts of laughter and audience participation, proving that the Comedy Club bet is a real success.

Stella Cole: A Rising Star in the Spotlight

After this relaxing moment, the main stage of Théâtre de Verdure welcomed an artist who lit up the evening from 7:30 PM: Stella Cole. Her performance was simply sublime. Her powerful and emotive voice transported the audience into a musically rich universe. “I didn’t know her at all, but I was swept off my feet. With the musicians surrounding her, her beautiful red dress, and her voice that makes us feel every emotion, it was a wonderful discovery,” says Pauline, a 24-year-old woman. Stella Cole, indeed, captivated the audience from start to finish by sharing memories of her childhood or challenging school days between songs. “A certain teacher hated me and didn’t like my voice,” you can hear her say. The songs are from her album which will be released on Wednesday, August 28.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the award presentation to Stella Cole by none other than Gad Elmaleh, one of the greatest figures of French comedy. This award, which recognizes promising young talents, added an emotional touch to Stella’s already stunning performance. Her radiant smile when receiving this distinction demonstrated the significance of this recognition for her career.

A Successful Innovation

Returning to the Comedy Club after Stella’s performance, the event proved to be a success. It offers a refreshing break between concerts while keeping attendees in the festive spirit of the festival. The comedians present “bring us a well-needed dose of humor and create the perfect balance with the musical performances happening on the other side. The audience doesn’t tire, they’re not bored, and this reflects the artistic quality that has made this festival famous,” explains Romain, a regular.

This new initiative is therefore a total success, and we strongly recommend taking a detour to the Comedy Club for an evening of laughter and good humor.
