The department was on yellow alert for thunderstorms, rain-flooding, strong winds, and wave submersion. A situation quite typical, but it required the activation of the vigilance unit of the Communal Operations Center very early this morning after the “Alex” episode, which still demands a significant commitment from the teams on site.
The rain again came down in the valleys this night until early afternoon. Although no major damage has been reported, the authorities exercised great caution by activating the vigilance units.
Several roads in the Vésubie Valley and Tinée have once again been closed to traffic. Interventions are underway to restore the situation as quickly as possible. Here is the list of roads closed to motorists:
- RM 2565 between Saint Jean la Rivière and Le Suquet, at the level of Bollène Station and at the ford crossing on the Boréon (access to Saint Jean la Rivière via RM 19 and to Lantosque via the Saint Roch pass – access to Roquebillière via Turini). The road is also closed 5km upstream from the Durandy bridge (access to Cros d’Utelle via the Durandy roundabout).
- Closure of 2205E following a collapse requiring road services to intervene on site.
Projects that will slow down the progress of ongoing works, notably in the Roya, which remains the least accessible area as of today.
No fewer than 83 firefighters, 141 military personnel, and 10 police officers have been called in for reinforcement to handle the various emergencies.
Tonight, 45 households are without electricity in the municipality of Saorge. The situation is expected to return to normal by tomorrow.
