Escaping the curfew, the Alpes-Maritimes Department remains on the list of territories under strict surveillance. A small slip-up and the ax could fallโฆ
Has the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic truly arrived in the Alpes-Maritimes? The curves showing the progression of the number of people hospitalized, in intensive care, or deceased in the department indeed indicate a progressive increase, with fluctuations since the beginning of the month.
According to data provided by Santรฉ Publique France, the number of people hospitalized in the department, after a significant decrease, has been rising steadily and progressively since the beginning of August, with fluctuations over the past month. There is a noticeable recent increase in hospitalizations after a small decline at the end of September. As for the number of patients in intensive care, it is also on the rise, although this increase is more moderate.
The number of deaths (in hospitals) due to the coronavirus has also started to rise again since early September, but it is not yet comparable to what it was at the peak of the epidemic.
The incidence rate in the Alpes-Maritimes, according to the latest figures from the regional health agency, is 116 new positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, still far from the maximum alert threshold (which would place the department in scarlet red), set at 250 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Finally, the positivity rate (number of positive cases among all tested individuals) is 9.9% in the Alpes-Maritimes, compared to an average of 12% in France.
