What is the registration deadline for the electoral rolls for the municipal elections?

Latest News

A few weeks before the elections on March 15 and 22, 2026, getting registered on the electoral lists remains an essential step to participate in the vote. In Nice, several options are available, with specific deadlines to be respected.

The municipal and community elections will take place on March 15 and 22, 2026. On this occasion, French citizens and European Union nationals are called to elect their municipal and community councilors. Participation in the elections remains conditional on registering on the electoral lists. This process concerns new voters as well as those who have changed their residence.

To vote, registration must be effective within the deadlines set by the regulations. In Nice, the deadline varies according to the method of submitting the application. Online registration is possible “until February 4 at midnight”, while the paper version is accepted “until February 6, 2026”.

Anyone who has moved to Nice or changed residence within the commune must report this situation to the town hall. The cutoff date remains set as “no later than February 6, 2026.” This formality determines the assignment to the correct polling station.

As a reminder, “any French and European citizen with civil rights and at least 18 years old the day before the election can vote in the municipal and community elections.” Community nationals must meet specific conditions. The town hall reiterates that “community nationals, enjoying their civil rights both in France and in their state of origin, registered on a French supplementary municipal list, can vote both in France and in their state of origin.”

Regarding young voters, a clarification is provided: “French citizens who have recently turned 18 are automatically registered on the electoral lists (provided they have previously registered for citizen census at their town hall starting from age 16).”

Accessible Procedures through Several Methods

The registration application relies on several mandatory documents. A completed registration form is required. This document is available in annex town halls and on the municipality’s website. A photocopy of your National Identity Card or passport, valid or expired for less than five years, must be provided. For European nationals, the document must be valid. A proof of residence less than three months old is also required, with a detailed list available on the city’s website.

Several channels are offered to complete the process. Internet registration is done by creating an account on the site www.service-public.fr. Special attention is noted. The possibility of registering via teleprocedure until midnight on February 4 is a strict deadline.

Sending by mail is also possible. The form must be downloaded from the town hall’s website and then sent to the following address: Mairie de Nice – Service des Elections – 06364 Nice cedex 4, before February 6, 2026. It is important to note that any application received by post after this date will not allow the voter to participate in the municipal and community elections.

In-person service is also provided, by appointment, no later than February 6, 2026. Nine municipal sites are open to the public, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The Maisons de Services Publics in Tonduti and Saint Roch are involved. Several annex town halls also participate, including Thiole – Malausséna, Le Ray, Magnan, Caucade, Saint-Augustin, Pasteur – Bon Voyage, and Ariane.

The Ma Mairie Mobile service complements this offer. Requests are processed in the neighborhoods of Cimiez, Saint-Roman de Bellet, Saint-Antoine de Ginestière, Ventabrun, La Costière, Fabron, and Saint Pierre de Féric.

Without an appointment, the Annex Town Hall – Corvésy Building – 6 rue Alexandre Mari is open to the public from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. The Service des Elections, located at 4 rue Ribotti, is open from 8:30 am to 5 pm, with an exceptional opening of the Service until 7 pm on Friday, February 6.

In case of doubt, a verification is possible. The website service-public.fr allows you to verify your registration and know your polling station.

The modalities of proxy voting are also detailed. The paper proxy requires a visit to a police station, gendarmerie, or judicial court. The digital proxy relies on the Maprocuration teleservice. Since January 1, 2022, the proxy can be registered in another commune while voting in Nice, at the proxy’s polling station.

A fully online system is now generalized. The use of a certified digital identity by France Identity allows avoiding any physical travel.

For any further information, the Citizenship and Population Services Department – Elections service can be reached at 04.97.13.22.40. Complete information is available on the city and Government websites.
