A Bright Yellow Car. It’s not La Banque Postale on a marketing campaign, but simply the car you need to get noticed. The goal in Cannes is to catch everyone’s eye. There are several techniques: the car, and here’s a great example, but also evening dresses with, if possible, a provocative slit showcasing a shapely silicone-enhanced chest, and “hublot” sunglasses. The caricature is easy but not far removed from the reality of Cannes, especially when the red carpet event approaches and the sun is about to set for the night.
Pointing the Finger. The GESTURE of the festival. Like a Pavlovian reflex, the index finger is raised when a star exits a hotel or appears at a window, when a car roars along the Croisette, or when a handsome man or beautiful woman struts proudly in the shade of the palm trees. It’s estimated that there are 7,789,217 instances of finger-pointing during the ten days of the festival!
Walking. The sport of the festival! From the festival palace to the Martinez hotel, festival goers don’t count the kilometers they cover throughout the day. To make the task more challenging, it is recommended to avoid wearing sports shoes! It’s all about heels and dress shoes! These festival goers are true sportspeople…
Sand Play. If you’ve had enough of the Cannes hustle, the buzz of the media with three cameras per square meter and a camera every meter, and you’re tired of watching films and being cooped up in dark rooms, then there’s nothing like a trip to the sand. The sun’s rays take possession of your body to tan it… Lying on your towel, you start fiddling with the grains of sand, piling them one on top of the other. Grain by grain, you build incredible, remarkable, yet ephemeral and aesthetic sculptures! The attention shifts to you, and thanks to this little moment of relaxation, you become one of the stars of the festival. A grain of sand, a grain of madness!
Feel of the Batir Expo. Undoubtedly, this is the image that best characterizes the popular fervor of the Cannes Festival. Places near the steps are coveted. The methods used to obtain them involve employing subtle strategies. The most common: securing a step-ladder with a padlock to the barriers of the Croisette. Then, with your personal key, you unlock it to have the best seat for the red carpet event.
Climbing the… Trees. After the red carpet, a prime moment to spot celebrities is during the airing of Le Grand Journal on Canal+ hosted by Michel Denisot. The first challenge in the late afternoon is obtaining the precious entry ticket for the show. Otherwise, you will have to sneak in to catch a square millimeter of a celebrity’s skin or climb the palm trees of the Croisette!
Ingrid Betancourt. Displayed on the Palais des Festivals, the portrait of Ingrid Betancourt reminds us that beyond the glitz and glamour, people suffer in the world. Ingrid Betancourt has been held in Colombia since February 23, 2002. It’s good to remember and not forget her.
