Discovering Exhibitions in Niceโs Museums
Saturday and Sunday are the last days to discover the exhibition titled โBucharest, Inspirations Bleu de Niceโ in the splendid Villa Massรฉna. This event is hosted in the museum as part of a festival celebrating the “30th anniversary of Romaniaโs admission as a full member of the International Organization of La Francophonie.” The museum is open from 11 AM to 6 PM.
At the Matisse Museum, you have until Monday, May 29th, to admire the exhibition โTom Wesselmann After Matisseโ. Forty-one works by American painter Tom Wesselmann illustrate his admiration for Henri Matisse. This cultural venue located in the gardens of Cimiez arenas opens its doors from 10 AM to 6 PM.
Afro-American Music Celebrated at the Palais Nikaรฏa
Tickets are still available for the first edition of the Kings of Afro concert, on Saturday, May 27th, at 8 PM at the Palais Nikaรฏa. Several names will take the stage. Heading the bill is Portuguese musician DJEFF, a fan of โafro techโ. He is joined by the electro-house music duo Afrokillerz. The lineup also includes the following artists: Baranda, Caianda, Mohjito.
Attend the Finale of the Kick Ca#5 Rap Competition
The courtyard of 109, the contemporary culture hub of the city of Nice, will host on Sunday, May 28th the fifth edition of the Kick รa rap competition finale. From 3 PM to 8 PM, the 6 finalist rappers in competition will have thirty minutes each to give their best to win the victory.
The prize: three professional awards for the three best local artists. The entry fee is two euros. There will be stands offering drinks and food for a convivial afternoon.
A Candlelit Musical Weekend
A fan of 80s rock, Ludovico Einaudiโs piano compositions, Coldplay, or Amรฉlie Poulain? Candlelight concerts organized by Fever will resonate throughout the weekend under the prestigious dome of the Cรดte d’Azur Observatory. On Saturday, at 7:30 PM, tickets are still available to experience the music of Yann Tiersen and the film The Fabulous Destiny of Amรฉlie Poulain. At 9:30 PM, you can choose to rediscover the rock classics from Pink Floyd to U2 on the piano.
Ludovico Einaudiโs famous piano compositions can be heard on Sunday, May 28th, and Monday, May 29th. Pianist Sydney Poma Amsellem will perform Una Mattina, Experience, and Nuvole Bianche. She will also reinterpret the greatest hits of British band Coldplay, from Viva la Vida to Fix You and Yellow, on Monday, May 29th, at 9:30 PM.
Enjoy the Last Weekend of Mai
The Cimiez Arena Gardens will host the last Sunday of festivities in May, from 10 AM to 7 PM. The gardens will be lively all day with music and a pebble-making workshop. Food stands will be available.
Two stages will offer various shows. Fanfare, folk dances, the Queen of Mai, baletรฌ can be enjoyed on the Oliveraie stage. The small stage will offer puppet shows from 2 PM, followed by the famous paillassou toss. The complete program is available online.
Rediscover Classics at the Cinรฉmathรจque
On Friday evening at 8 PM, itโs time for the Night Run. A film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra released in 2015 starring Liam Neeson and Ed Harris. In the same urban western genre, Dirty Harry will be shown on Sunday, May 28th, at 4 PM. A film directed by Don Siegel starring Clint Eastwood. For more restored classics, Saturday at 8 PM is the opportunity to watch the Oscar-winning film Laura directed by Otto Preminger in 1944.
Then on Sunday at 1:45 PM, A Bag of Marbles by Jacques Doillon will be shown. A film shot at the Victorine Studios. On Pentecost Monday at 1:45 PM, the cinรฉmathรจque offers Marcel Pagnolโs Le Schpountz and at 8 PM, Magic in the Moonlight by Woody Allen.
