Once the holidays are over, what should you do with your Christmas tree? Where should you throw it away? What if you gave it a second life instead?
This year, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has decided to renew the Christmas tree collection campaign. UNIVALOM also offers more than 20 drop-off points in participating communities to shred the trees and use them as mulch in communal green spaces.
The Objectives of the Operation
These collections allow residents to have a convenient location to drop off their tree after the holidays, thereby preventing illegal dumping on sidewalks (which is prohibited) and lessening the burden on waste disposal sites. Moreover, it is an eco-friendly initiative since the collected trees will be composted, and it also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about composting and mulching among residents.
Christmas Tree Collection
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis collects trees for free after the holidays. Artificial trees will not be accepted, and the natural trees must be dropped off without artificial snow and undecorated.
You can dispose of your tree starting from the evening of Monday, January 9, 2023, at one of the 11 enclosures in the city of Nice, until Monday, January 23, 2023, inclusive.

Moreover, UNIVALOM offers more than 20 drop-off sites in participating communities. This collective action allows for the valorization of trees, which will be transformed into mulch (shredded vegetation) and reused in the community’s green spaces.
