WhatsApp strengthens with call scheduling.

Thanks to call scheduling, the app takes a new step in online communication.

In mid-August, WhatsApp announced a new call scheduling feature. Today, the messaging app reminds through its official account that it is not only used for calling friends directly, but it also allows organizing virtual appointments โ€” a way to compete with platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, which have become essential in the era of remote work and online meetings.

The new feature is directly integrated into the main interface, in the “calls” tab: by clicking on the “+” button, the “schedule a call” option becomes accessible. The user can then set the format (audio or video), assign a title and description to explain the purpose of the meeting, and choose the start and end times. This scheduling is possible for both individual calls and group calls: all participants receive a link or a reminder in the conversation. To avoid forgetting, an automatic notification will alert guests just before the call starts. For the organizer, the “calls” tab acts as a dashboard: it’s possible to view at any time the scheduled calls and associated details.

At the same time, WhatsApp has recently deployed another notable improvement: users can now share animated photos with sound, captured from a compatible iPhone or Android device. Until now, these sequences were transformed into static images or GIF files without audio. With this update, the app faithfully reproduces the motion and sound โ€” offering a more immersive experience within exchanges.
