Nice-Première: How would you define “The Master of the Zodiac”?
Stéphan Guérin-Tillié: New story. New script. It’s a bit like when you build a house. Initially, you lay the foundation of a house, that was the first season. And for the second season, we put up the walls. It’s a somewhat caricatured image.
N-P: Who is Jérôme Saint-André, the brother of Esther Delaître?
S.G-T: My character has evolved a lot. In the first season, he was somewhat of a comedic character. He was not really central to the crime plots, a bit detached from the family. Now, he is much more involved since he is the one who runs the Saint André family business.
N-P: What’s the difference between the Jérôme of the first season and the second?
S.G-T: He was a character who had a kind of cynical and cold humor in the first season. He has not lost his somewhat off-beat humor, but on the other hand, he has become carnivorous.
N-P: Actor but also director?
S.G-T: Yes. My film EDY with François Berléand, Philippe Noiret, Marion Cotillard was released on DVD on June 10. I am currently shooting a series for Canal + called “Confidence on the Couch.”
N-P: What kind of series?
S.G-T: It’s a totally offbeat series that we haven’t seen yet in France. It features characters talking about sex on a couch. It includes Olivier Marchal, Antoine Duléry, Natacha Lindinger, and myself. It’s four episodes of 26 minutes each for Canal +. And I am writing my second short film.
N-P: You have a website. It’s rare for an actor to have a web site?
S.G-T: It was a young woman who liked what I was doing and who offered to make a site for me. I let her do it. I find the site quite nice. It’s cool.
N-P: If I say “First or Premiere,” what or who do you think of?
S.G-T: A cinema magazine.
