Lauriano Azinheirinha has been chosen as the new chief of staff for Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice and president of the Nice Cรดte dโAzur metropolis.
After redistributing the delegations of his various deputies, Christian Estrosi is making some changes in his staff. The former general director of the Metropolitan Tourist Office, Lauriano Azinheirinha, has been appointed as the chief of staff for Christian Estrosi. He announced on his X account that he would begin his new role on November 1st, “driven by great energy and values you know me for: loyalty, fidelity, and work.”
Within the political circle of Christian Estrosi for 15 years, Lauriano Azinheirinha returns to the close-knit team of the mayor. Elected as a municipal and metropolitan councilor in 2008, he was notably in charge of Education, school catering, and extracurricular activities.
His political career has also been marked by his involvement with the Alpes-Maritimes department, where he served as vice-president from 2011 to 2021.
Former head of city and metropolitan services
Before heading the OTM, he was the deputy general director in charge of attractiveness and, more importantly, the general director of services (DGS) for the city of Nice and the Nice Cรดte dโAzur metropolis for five years. It was then Olivier Breuilly who succeeded him in this strategic position.
He now holds a responsibility assigned by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. Alongside the United Nations Conference on the Ocean, which Nice will host in 2025, Olivier Breuilly will oversee the technical management of an international coalition of communities for ocean protection. He is accompanied in this task by other elected officials: Richard Chemla, Graig Monetti, Aurore Asso, Roger Roux, and Hervรฉ Paul.
The current DGS of Christian Estrosi also started his duties on November 1st. He is Bastien Nespoulous, previously the chief of staff and appointed on an interim basis.
In 2022, the new chief of staff for Christian Estrosi was recognized as a knight of the National Order of Merit by Gรฉrald Darmanin.
That same year, he was called out by the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life. This independent administrative authority blocked his recruitment by the private clinic group Kantys due to the risk of unlawful interest.
Two years earlier, in 2020, he was involved in another controversy when a preliminary investigation for embezzlement of public funds was opened against him and Pierre-Paul Leonelli. Both defended themselves against any allegations of “fictitious employment.”
