Today, Wednesday, May 17th, Christian Estrosi announced the winner of the 2023 Nice Baie des Anges prize, chosen by the jury members from a selection of eight novels.
The Baie des Anges prize is a literary award given to an author for a specific work published within the 12 months preceding the Nice Book Festival.
So who will follow in the footsteps of writers David Foenkinos, rewarded for “Numรฉro Deux”, and Thierry Vimal, for his novel “Au titre des souffrances endurรฉes”?
The verdict is in, and the winner of the 27th Nice Baie des Anges prize is Philippe Besson with his novel This Is Not a News Story. Close behind is “Tous immortels” by Paul Pavlowitch.
โThey are brother and sister. When the story begins, they are nineteen and thirteen years old. This story is captured in a few words, those uttered in trembling by the younger, an involuntary witness: โDad just killed Mom.โ Once past the shock, these broken children will have to cope with grief, anger, and guilt. They will have to retrace the events to try to understand the formidable mechanism that led to this act. With modesty and sobriety, this novel, inspired by real events, tells a story that goes beyond the subjectโฆโ
The award ceremony will take place on Friday, June 2nd during the first day of the Book Festival, which will run until Sunday, June 4th. This event brings together authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers for conferences, debates, book signings, and other activities related to literature. The festival allows visitors to meet their favorite authors, discover new books, attend discussions, and participate in workshops and entertainment.
