Christian Estrosi returns to the scene regarding the Nice-Matin press group case. After an unusually quiet period for him, the mayor of Nice has revisited this issue, which is in serious crisis and whose fate will be decided by the Commercial Court on November 7th.
“Three takeover projects are in the running and it is not up to me to judge them. Among these projects, the employees, whose concern and anger are understandable, have proposed a takeover project now supported by private shareholders. This project is the one that preserves the maximum number of jobs,” stated the Deputy Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
We might also see a change of direction after reading the following: “Making employment and growth my key words and as the law provides, since the Region, as the leader in economic matters, has given its approval for the local authorities to support this project, the City of Nice is ready, if this case is selected by the commercial court, to do everything to support it.”
In fact, the UMP group (unknown to Christian Estrosi?) did not vote for the aid that the Regional Council granted to the Nice-Matin group in the name of an alleged neutrality concerning the cases under review. In truth, the new law on the social and solidarity economy allows a local authority to become a shareholder in a Scop or Scic. Thus, the mayor of Nice seems to show a preference for the internal project.
It is true that Bernard Tapie would also support it personally by exchanging financial support for a co-held stake in Corse-Matin.
As it is whispered that there are excellent relations between him and Christian Estrosi, could this perhaps be the explanation?
