This Saturday, December 12th, Le Rouret, the truffle capital of the department, kicks off the black truffle season in the department.
Throughout the day, a market offering excellent products welcomes you with a variety of activities: the Brotherhood of Rabassiers of Le Rouret (Provençal term for truffle grower) in ceremonial attire, truffle sales, all in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
2015 will mark the fourth edition of this gourmet event, which this year will be paired with the first “Wine, Truffles and Foie Gras” Market in a picturesque Provençal setting. A great discovery outing idea…
To better understand this prestigious mushroom, you can stroll from 10 AM to 9 PM on the Veterans Alley around the first Wine, Truffle, and Foie Gras Market. An excellent outing idea just days before Christmas!
As lunchtime arrives, you will have the opportunity to dine in the square, at the Maison du Terroir, and in the village restaurants.
The afternoon will culminate at 5:30 PM with the traditional ceremony of inducting new members into the Brotherhood of Rabassiers followed by the blessing of the truffles at the Church starting at 6:30 PM.
To end on a gastronomic note, from 7:15 PM, starred chef Daniel Ettlinger (from Le Clos Saint-Pierre restaurant) will offer a sample of a delicious truffle dish to enchant taste buds!
An aperitif of friendship will be served to all participants!
This celebration is part of a long history between the commune and the black truffle: For 18 years, Le Rouret, whose emblem is the oak tree, has hosted a vast plot dedicated to truffle cultivation on its lands. The truffle growers’ union, composed of passionate professionals, is responsible for revealing its secrets.
Since 2011, Le Rouret also opens the truffle season in the department thanks to this festival. Moreover, every year, the truffle growers’ union offers the schoolchildren of Le Rouret delicious truffles to awaken their taste for this subtle aroma during a truffled meal prepared by the municipal canteen team.
