Nice loves celebrations and parties! The end-of-year celebrations and the Carnival are eagerly awaited moments of winter.
Two major events are scheduled for the people of Nice as well as winter tourists: “Christmas in Nice,” which will take place from December 1st to January 2nd and will have “The Belle รpoque” as this year’s theme.
Then, in February 2013, the traditional Nice Carnival will follow, showcasing the colors of the 5 continents and the Francophonie, with the Games taking place in Nice in September 2013.
Christmas in Nice from December 1, 2012, to January 2, 2013
According to tradition, the Nice Tourism & Congress Office will organize the 17th edition of the Christmas Village in the heart of Nice. Every day from 11 am to 8 pm during the scheduled period at Place Massรฉna, it will bring together around sixty chalets featuring a wide range of crafts mainly based on Christmas products.
In a winter setting, visitors will discover the village, its ice rink, and the numerous free activities organized every weekend and during the holidays. Children can come with their families to enjoy another play area with a Ferris wheel and inflatable structures.
Numerous events will be held throughout the city, particularly at Places Massรฉna and Garibaldi, where on weekends and school holidays, free shows and concerts specifically designed for young audiences will be offered. Particular attention will be paid, as every year, to the city’s illuminations with carefully crafted light displays and the now constant requirement for reduced energy consumption.
The Nice Carnival “King of the 5 Continents” with the Francophonie as the guest of honor.
From February 15 to March 6, 2013, the “King of the 5 Continents” will reign over the 129th edition of the Nice Carnival, the largest winter event on the Cรดte d’Azur.
The “King of the 5 Continents” Carnival remains true to its universal vocation. A journey that will travel through time and space, opening all perspectives to the imagination… His Majesty will welcome as guest of honor: the Francophonie. Indeed, with the VII Francophonie Games taking place on its land in 2013, it was fitting to grant it this title.
