True to its mission of being a place welcoming minds working for Culture and Peace, the Mediterranean University Center presents on Tuesday, April 7th, starting at 2 PM, the Symposium “Women, Culture of Peace”, a follow-up to the International Women’s Congress for a Culture of Peace, organized by Cheikh Khaled Bentounรจs on October 28, 29, and 30, 2014, in Oran and Mostaganem, which was a great success in terms of attendance and influence.
Inaugurated by Dr. Agnรจs Rampal and Cheikh Khaled Bentounรจs, this symposium features enlightened and recognized personalities in the field of peace and the values conveyed by the concept of a “better living together” society: Audrey Fella, Valรฉrie Colin Simard, Virginie Larousse, Dominique Reyniรฉ.
Cheikh Bentounรจs’s approach is part of the desire to effectively develop Living Together. This issue has a magnitude that goes far beyond geographical, cultural, social, and religious borders and is based on an authentic approach of respect and peace.
Every day, we are bombarded with information and images of conflicts, violence, and misery, consequences of the senseless behavior of human beings. Yet, the desire for peace has never been greater. The development of information technologies combined with globalization driven by profit induces rapid changes in our societies, disrupting and destabilizing a world where the exchange of ideas is inevitable, a world where the mixing of populations of diverse origins and cultures is an unavoidable reality.
Our humanity must react and move towards this alternative that presents itself as an opportunity. It is a new challenge of an extent that far surpasses geographical, cultural, social, and religious boundaries and necessarily involves the culture of peace.
As a preview: a 52-minute film on this symposium realized by France Tรฉlรฉvision will be shown.
