After so many controversies, discussions, agitations, and “technical” debates, a few (minor) accidents, have we reached the end of the “tunnel”?
This is what the Metropolis, which is in charge of the works, claims.
The tunnel boring machine will reach the exit shaft at the beginning of September after having dug 3.2 km of tunnel from its entry shaft on Rue Ségurane.
But starting this week, it will have crossed the rue de France/Grosso intersection, which will then be reopened to traffic. All the construction site fences will be dismantled.
The merchants, who recently protested about the negative impact of the works on their businesses, “will then be able to use their terraces under normal conditions again,” claims the Metropolis.
Regarding safety, after the roadway collapse on rue de France, technical interventions have restored normal and safe conditions. A topographic control is being ensured.
Moreover, the Metropolis confirms that the overall schedule for the commissioning of the West-East line remains unchanged.
The Magnan-Cadam section will be delivered as planned in the summer of 2018, and the entire line to the port in September 2019, at the same time as line 3.
