World AIDS Day: Nice Mobilizes and Commits

Organized every December 1st since 1988, World AIDS Day is an international day dedicated to raising awareness about the pandemic of the virus. It allows various public and private partners to promote the prevention, treatment, and care of HIV.


sida-5.jpg The PACA region is the second most affected region in France. Highly mobilized throughout the year, the AIDS fighting collective in the Alpes-Maritimes organizes an awareness day with the support of the city of Nice this Sunday.

Program for the day:

From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM: Four buses will offer rapid HIV/AIDS testing

  • on Avenue Thiers (in front of the post office);
  • on Boulevard Victor Hugo (at the corner of Victor Hugo/Jean Mรฉdecin, in front of the BNP);
  • Place Magenta;
  • Place du Palais de Justice.

At 4:30 PM: Illumination of the red ribbon at Place Magenta in the presence of Christian Estrosi and all those who wish to support this cause.

A tram displaying the campaign slogan launched by the AIDS fighting collective of the Alpes-Maritimes has been running in the city since Monday, November 25th until Wednesday, December 4th to raise awareness among as many people as possible and demonstrate the municipality’s solidarity with HIV victims. Moreover, from Monday, December 2nd to Wednesday, December 4th, awareness actions on the modes of HIV/AIDS transmission will be organized during vaccination sessions in several municipal centers:
