World Alzheimer’s Day: Nice as a Pilot City for Supporting Patients

Today, in France, more than 850,000 people are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related illness. The impact of these illnesses on the quality of life of the patients and their caregivers requires significant mobilization.

The Culture-Art-Leisure Program for People with Alzheimer’s Disease in Nice (CALMAN®) consists of opening the city’s cultural venues throughout the year to individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related illness, who are in care facilities, accompanied by their healthcare providers and relatives.

This very innovative initiative promotes interaction, awareness, and socialization among people suffering from cognitive disorders. More than 3,000 people have benefited from it since its inception.
