World Multiple Sclerosis Day: the “Maison de la SEP” in Nice

Latest News

On the occasion of World Multiple Sclerosis Day on May 30, the “Maison de la SEP” will be in Nice this Friday. It will be a time for exchanges, sharing, and information, taking place at the Hรดtel Aston La Scala from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This often misunderstood disease affects more than 100,000 people in France, three-quarters of whom are women. To contribute to the liberation of speech about the relational consequences of Multiple Sclerosis, the Maison de la SEP aims to highlight some symptoms considered taboo. Fatigue, stress, cognitive disorders, depression, and balance disturbances are among the manifestations caused by the disease and can affect interpersonal relationships.

A Day for Information

The Maison de la SEP is an initiative of many actors, such as the Biorgen laboratory, a major player in the fight against the disease, the Resource and Competence Center (CRC), and Unisep. It will be present in 14 cities in France from May 18 to June 7, and in Nice on May 24. During this day, workshops and conferences will be organized with the presence of patients, relatives, health professionals, patient associations, and local networks. Health experts in the paramedical, sports, social, and artistic fields will voluntarily lead debates or open exchanges.

This educational and informative day will allow participants to receive opinions and advice outside the hospital setting. “We find something other than the mass of (bad) information circulating on the internet. The health professionals present voluntarily adapt their speech to each individual,” specifies, in a statement, Professor Christine Lebrun-Frenay, neurologist and head of the CRCSEP (Multiple Sclerosis Resource and Competence Center) in Nice.
