According to the annual report of the United Nations Refugee Agency, wars, violence, and persecution have driven forced displacements worldwide to a new record of 70.8 million people, which is one every two seconds—about the population of Thailand.
Among them are almost 25.9 million refugees, more than half of whom are under the age of 18.
Faced with these unprecedented population displacements, the United Nations Refugee Agency called in 2016 for the international community to support its work and to show greater solidarity with refugees.
