Founded in 2005 by Brice Risso and Pierre Panizzoli, and presided over this year by Stéphane Panizzoli, four years after introducing Wrestling at the “Cavi,” the club is determined to continue its development for this new sports season. Taught by Grégory Rosello, 28 years old, 2nd Dan, a state-certified teacher and graduate of the University of Sports in Nice, the Taekwondo classes, with nearly 50 members in its first year, have been met with great success among children aged 5 to 12 in the Nice neighborhoods.
Passionate for 15 years about this martial art and Olympic discipline from Korea, “Greg” sets more ambitious goals for Taekwondo than those of a mere sport: under his guidance, it also becomes a formidable tool for social cohesion, as demonstrated by the participation in his classes of young people from various cultural and social backgrounds.
Rigorous discipline and a friendly atmosphere suggest a strong bond between the “prof” and his young students. “Beyond being a combat and opposition sport,” Gregory Rosello explained to Nice-Première, “Taekwondo is, for me, an educational discipline and a true school of life where one learns to know oneself, others, and to respect each other through effort.”
This year, the section will operate in 2 halls in the Nice-East area for club slots (Bischoffsheim hall in the St Roch neighborhood and the Jean Macé school hall for the Pasteur area) and will work on different programs: local educational contracts, free time contracts during school holidays, and city contracts (notably in Nice Nord).
The club’s next goals: participation in regional championships, organizing various competitions, as well as belt gradings.
