Facing the 23-year-old world number 86, Olga Danilovic, who just achieved her best ranking, there wasn’t much to be done. The Belgrade native was on a streak of six consecutive wins following her victory at the ITF in Cornellà last week, matches in which she hadn’t lost a single set. And it’s clear why.
She quickly took the lead, taking advantage of a slow start from the French player. With the break in hand, Olga Danilovic was barely troubled by the player from the Côte d’Azur. With only two break opportunities against her and seven for her opponent, it was difficult to make a comeback. Despite solid play, Diane Parry didn’t seem to have the tools against a player who seemed untouchable today. Two additional breaks later, the Serbian won the first set (6-1).
