The knowledge and spread of the Italian language in the world today is at the intersection of a dual moment: on one hand, an increasing number of foreigners are coming to Italy (in search of work or for specific activities), and on the other hand, many Italians are seeking work or otherwise settling abroad.

This is the effect of the increasingly accelerated process of globalization, which is progressively affecting our country. It is then a matter of utilizing the opportunities created by this situation to provide foreigners in their countries with an essential initial approach to Italian reality through the language.

Compared to other languages more favored by particular historical conditions, the Italian language has the undeniable advantage of having a unique artistic and literary heritage and a great appeal in terms of tradition and customs, still lively expressions of the many medieval, Renaissance, and modern-era capital cities. Capitals not only from a literary and artistic standpoint but also because they are part of a territory of great value, known for gastronomic excellence, popular festivals, and great and warm social life.

In particular, the proposed project—choosing poetry as a particularly significant direction for enhancing the Italian language and the performance format of readings and music for better public presentation—on one hand, identifies poets Mia Lecomte and Jean Portante as authors who traverse the Italian and French languages—publishing books of poetry and novels, but also involving magazines and anthologies respectively with foreign poets in Italy (Lecomte) and foreign poets in France (Portante)—and, on the other hand, presents Rosaria Lo Russo and Lello Voce, poets of the new generation invited to numerous poetry meetings (Europe, Australia, China, Japan, Canada, USA, etc.) and Italian Cultural Institutes worldwide as important exponents of the current poetic research in our country.

On the theme of poetry and language dialoguing with the arts, artist Marina Burani has created an installation for the event; works by Italian artists will be exhibited in the Theater of the Consulate General; musician Patrizia Mattioli will accompany the poetry readings with live electronic music; in the Hall of Flags, a Showcase of video art poetry will be presented.
