In a letter addressed to the Public Prosecutor, also sent to Nicole BELLOUBET, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, and to Christophe CASTANER, Minister of the Interior, Christian ESTROSI requests that the Public Prosecutor initiate criminal liability proceedings against the organizers of illegal demonstrations.
For the Mayor of Nice, “the economic life and daily life of the people of Nice are regularly disrupted by these illegal demonstrations, as the tramway, Mathis way, or even the heart of Nice are regularly occupied, causing inconvenience and economic and financial harm to merchants, business leaders, and the community.”
His request to the prosecutor is “to apply Article 431-9 of the Penal Code, which punishes the organization of such illegal demonstrations with six months imprisonment and a fine of 7,500 euros. This would force the organizers to plan a demonstration that needs to be static and to stop these provocations and inconveniences for thousands of people in Nice.”
