As a new mobilization of the yellow vests is planned for Saturday, December 8, we all have in mind the images of great violence that occurred in Paris and several other cities in France. Intolerable, unacceptable, and, in some aspects, frightening violence.
While the right to protest is a fundamental right, we condemn in the strongest possible terms these actions by factious individuals and radicalized yellow vests that tarnish this movement itself and endanger the physical integrity of law enforcement and citizens.
We call for calm wherever necessary with the slogan:
#StopViolences
We urge everyone to do the same and call on political and union leaders, as well as citizens, to relay this appeal themselves by speaking out clearly: let’s say a clear NO to violence.
It is through dialogue that we will emerge from this crisis. We are ready: in the coming days, we invite all citizens who wish to meet with us and engage in dialogue.
Starting December 15, the date of the beginning of the national grand debate announced by the Prime Minister, which will focus on ecological transition, transportation/mobility, and our taxes, LaREM Alpes-Maritimes will make every effort to ensure that every French citizen is heard. At the end of this mobilization, the movement will produce its own report in response to this consultation by mid-March.
