One swallow doesn’t make a summer, especially in winter. But a simple problem can become the lever for many others…
This is what is happening in Nice following Christian Estrosi’s desire to ask the citizens of Nice their opinion on the privatization (or more accurately, the sale of shares by the State).
Why a referendum or a public consultation for an action that does not have direct impacts on the lives of citizens, and not for another issue that, on the contrary, will have a direct impact, that of the tunnel of tram line 2 – ask those who have gathered to oppose this project until the end?
This is what Patrice Benoit, spokesperson for the collective, explains to us:
« The mayor of Nice has announced his intention to organize a local referendum to consult the citizens of Nice on the State’s project for the privatization of the airport.
1/ We are pleased that the mayor has embraced the culture of citizen debate and local referendum.
2/ With regard to his Metro-tram project, and since it is not too late, as the civil engineering work has not yet begun, why not consider such an initiative and consult the citizens of Nice via a local referendum on his Metro-tram project, which is a structuring project for the future of the city and its finances?
The citizens of Nice would thank him for allowing a debate on the many concerns raised by this project: total cost, the existence of geological risks, the choice of route and interconnection with line 1 and the SNCF stations, ecological inconsistency, etc.… and for giving them the opportunity to give or refuse to give the necessary legitimacy to this project.»
