Young Economic Chamber of Nice Côte d’Azur: Selective Sorting Discovery Day

Yellow, blue, green… Bins of all colors, and then what?

Raising awareness among young people about waste sorting and teaching them the first steps of recycling to act as good citizens!

This is the project of the Young Economic Chamber of Nice Côte d’Azur, which has arranged for two essential industrial sites for waste management in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area to open their doors this Tuesday, June 12th.

Thus, students from the 6th and 7th grades at Jean Giono Middle School in Nice will enjoy a guided tour of the VEOLIA Propreté and SMED/VALCO sites. This day will provide them with the opportunity for direct contact with the waste recycling and/or disposal process. The students will be immersed in a world that is little known to the general public, yet plays an important role in their daily lives, for the future of our city and, on a larger scale, our planet.

In recent years, waste sorting, and more broadly sustainable development, have been current topics and among the main concerns of the political world. This issue affects everyone.

Veolia and Smed/Valco are highly involved in the treatment of construction waste and household garbage, while protecting the environment and complying with the standards dictated by the European Union. The visit to these two recent and innovative sites will help understand the path of waste and the importance of the first actions that must be undertaken.

Program:

8:30 AM-2:00 PM: Visit to the SMED/Valco industrial site; 2:30 PM-3:00 PM: Visit to the Véolia Propreté industrial site
