In these times of economic hardship and gloom, one swallow does not make a spring, but since we are approaching the fateful date… Why not put on an optimistic smile?
And yes, if saying something positive about the Government is more painful for entrepreneurs than having a wisdom tooth pulled without anesthesia… well, it seems that, for once, a law is indeed serving them.
It’s the “Contrat de gรฉnรฉration” (Generation Contract), which allows hiring a young person on a permanent contract, provided the company (with fewer than 300 employees) has an employee aged 57 or older, aiming to promote the exchange of intergenerational experience and know-how.

Thus, it is a subsidized employment but, for once, in the right direction.
This is why consular bodies (CCI, CMA, and the Chamber of Agriculture) committed themselves by signing an agreement with State services (Direccte – former labor department) to inform, raise awareness, and assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in using this opportunity.
Beyond the simple financial benefit, the system allows young people, with the only condition being between 16 and 25 years old, to enter the company and find their place there with the mentored support of a veteran of the business.
A sort of relay that readily lends itself to symbolic value!
Having started quietly (the law dates from March 1, 2013), the Generation Contract took off following the agreement between Direccte and the consular chambers for its promotion and the support of companies, and especially entrepreneurs, in its implementation.
To date, 775 jobs have been created this way in the Alpes-Maritimes, while the estimated national number is 45,000.
So it is with a smile that Patricia Allouch (CMA) and Laurent Lachkar (CCI) presented an initial report during a press briefing by sharing the story of the company Ilardo.
