Ahead of his time as a celebrity, a committed singer and actor, Yves Montand wore many hats throughout his career.
This Tuesday, November 23, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth and thirty years after his death, the Cinémathèque of Nice is paying tribute to him, in the presence of his companion Carole Amiel, with screenings of essential feature films: “Le Hasard et la violence” by Philippe Labro, a tragedy with metaphysical overtones entirely filmed under the Nice sun; “La Solitude du chanteur de fond” by Chris Marker, a portrait of the committed singer offered as part of the Documentary Film Month; and “Le Diable par la queue” by Philippe De Broca, a light, zany, and gently amoral comedy.
