The Union for Business of Alpes Maritimes has just re-elected Yvon Grosso for another 3 years. This is a first for an outgoing president. The UPE, which brings together MEDEF 06 and CGPME 06, aims to unite businesses and be the voice of entrepreneurs. A challenging task influenced by the economic crisis.
In the summary of his term, Yvon Grosso highlights four major events. The first point is the tenth edition of the entrepreneurial event organized around the theme “tomorrow’s business.” Luc Ferry, Jean-Marc Sylvestre, and Geoffroy Roux de Bรฉzieux, a former candidate for the head of Medef, were present at this exhibition.
The launch of the Entrepreneurial Fund 06 (FCPR) is a more significant project. Designed to raise funds for young innovative companies, the FCPR aims to “sustain companies, retain talent, and create wealth in the department,” specifies Yvon Grosso.
The creation of the B.A 06 Event shares the same objective. It aims to support young innovative companies and key clients at the same exhibition: “Having an idea is not enough; you need to find ‘business angels,’” adds the UPE06 president. In total, 60 contractors and 46 innovative companies were able to meet at this exhibition.
Other initiatives include providing SMEs the opportunity to meet prestigious sponsors. A way to promote the “Small Business Act,” through a public-private partnership, for example. An initiative that would lead to deducting 30% of the turnover of a company that has obtained a contract to redistribute it to local businesses. However, behind all these positive points, many negative points remain: “local taxes are too high, 30% more than neighboring cities. Transport taxes as well. Businesses are funding the transport of the entire civil society. There are also big problems with the taxes applied to waste treatment.
Finally, the abandonment of the LGV PACA line would be a significant handicap, with a considerable accessibility risk,” laments Yvon Grosso. For the 2013/2016 period, UPE06 seeks more members, better visibility, optimized services, and greater responsiveness to lead the upcoming battles of the employer’s union.
