Organized by the cultural association Polychromes, the 7th edition of the LGBT film festival “ZEFESTIVAL” will be held until October 19 in Nice, Toulon, and Marseille. Opening tonight at the Mercury with the screening of the film “Reaching for the Moon” by Bruno Barreto (Brazil / 2012 / 1h58 mn / Original Version with French Subtitles)*
Born in 2008 in Nice, “>ZEFESTIVAL – which incorporated the former REFLETS festival of Marseille in 2012 and has since become a regional event – offers films addressing lesbian, gay, bi, and trans issues. It enjoys growing renown thanks to the large audience it gathers.
Polychromes has also been able to count on the active collaboration of cinema directors at the main stops, notably the Mercury and Pathé in Nice, all convinced that a festival covering LGBT themes has its place in general programming.
The program offered this year will be eclectic and very international, with a selection of more than twenty feature films, and as many short films, from all countries.
New to the 2014 program: the creation of six thematic sections to be closer to audience expectations and facilitate their choices: “Arty,” “Grand Classic,” “Happy Life,” “Society and Politics,” “Documentary,” and “Short Film.”
The festival will host many guests over these 12 days: Attie Albertus and Didier Pasamonik (co-author and executive producer of the film “Lady of the Night”), Guillaume Foirest (director of “7ème Ciel”), Chriss Lag (director of “Fille en Aiguilles”), Daniel Lance (author of the novel “Le Prix qu’ils paieront”), Valérie Mitteaux (director of the film “Le Baiser de Marseille”), Louis Dupont (creator of Bulle Production, which will offer the program “10 Grands Moments de Solitude”), and Karl Lakolac (artist, video maker, and much more…).
At a time when European societies are tempted by community or nationalist retreats, ZEFESTIVAL aims to contribute to promoting values of openness, tolerance, humanism, and non-discrimination.
