20 clubs participated in the traditional Nice event and, for the first time, Montpellier won the Trophy awarded to the best club across three age categories (under 9, under 11, and under 13) after cumulative ranking. AS Montferrand, finalist against Montpellier, won the tournament in the under-9 category, while Nice defeated Montpellier in the under-11s, and Aix-en-Provence won the under-13 category against the young Niçois.
Two fine performances by Nice, with two finals proving that the passion for rugby is resurfacing in Nice and the French Riviera.
The conclusion of this beautiful day: matches played with passion and flair, allowing us to witness promising young talents and perhaps some champions of tomorrow. The only downside was the absence of any sports and political authorities, which can only be doubly regrettable. This lack of sensitivity ultimately was the only blemish on the otherwise great and beautiful event.
