There will be 38 crews setting off on Friday, September 13, 2013, starting at 1:13 PM (a nod to Apollo 13, which did the same in 1970!). The car park will open from 10:30 AM, on the Promenade des Anglais opposite the Westminster Hotel.
The oldest participant in this edition will be a venerable but valiant Peugeot 203 C from 1957, driven in the “regularity” category by Eric and Gilbert SCOFFIER. It is followed by the Renault 4 CV (1958) of Sandra LEONE and Alain PHEZ.
Among the competitors coming from all over France as well as from Italy or England, in the regularity category, we note the presence of a beautiful 1969 Lotus Elan driven by Cédric TOPOR, a member of the Nice Automobile Club, who is practicing to take part in the next Monte Carlo Historical. Or Jean-Louis and Romain ROUX, participating in the rally as father and son in their very beautiful Alpine Renault A310.
This year, we also note the presence of 3 all-female crews, aboard a 1969 Lancia Fulvia Zagato, a 1980 Triumph Spitfire, and a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera. Interestingly, one of these teams has a favorite number… 13!
And the competition doesn’t scare them. It must be said that this is not their first rally, and some have quite respectable records: 2 victories in the Rallye des Princesses, numerous places of honor in historical rallies, participations in desert rally raids… These 6 remarkable ladies have had a passion for motorsports for many years.
The public can visit this beautiful open-air automobile museum and cheer on the crews at the start.
The route is secret until the start, but the ACN has already indicated that the 2 overnight stays will take place in Valberg, where the rally has reserved all the rooms of the 2 three-star hotels at the station. A night loop is planned for Friday evening, and the finish will be again in front of the Radisson Hotel, the event’s partner.
The prize-giving lunch will take place at Régence Place on Sunday, starting at 2 PM.
