This friendly gathering offers – after a short hike – to bring together fans of Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, De Tomaso, Iso Rivolta, Fiat, Autobianchi, Abarth, OSI, Innocenti, etc., around a great “polenta party.” Not forgetting the motorcycles: Benelli, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Gilera… Plus the unmissable Vespas and Rumi!
This annual event on the ACN event calendar is primarily aimed at vehicles over 25 years old, but exceptional modern vehicles are welcome. It is organized in close collaboration with the municipality of Saint-Martin Vésubie.
Scheduled for Sunday, May 20, 2012, in St Martin Vésubie, the very first Belle Macchine e Polenta! aims to gather about a hundred vehicles, with an average of 2 people on board, as well as many visitors. It is a historical journey (hence, without the spirit of speed or competition, there is no ranking) and a gathering around a themed picnic with entertainment, a casual formula that made the British classic car Picnic successful (of which the second edition will take place on July 1, 2012).
The vehicles will start at 9:30 am from Place Garibaldi in Nice and will have to reach St Martin Vésubie, passing through the famous Col du Turini and some passage checkpoints held by ACN officials. This is done by following a roadbook entirely written… in Italian! Upon arrival, a welcome aperitif in the village square; then a great “polenta party” and a picnic near the Alpha wolf park, highlighting the products of Italian gastronomy reserved for registered crews. For entertainment, a singer will alternate between bel canto, Italian pop, and traditional canzonetta.
The gathering will be an opportunity to form a temporary open-air museum of the beautiful “fatto in Italia” mechanics. An event for enthusiasts but also for the general public, who will be able to discover dream cars, rare models, all in a friendly atmosphere during a beautiful day in May…
